Morningside adds experienced investment professional in London

Morningside Capital is excited to announce a new addition to our team.

Aan Son Khoo joins Morningside as a Principal in London, where he will play a significant role in sourcing, evaluating, and executing European investment opportunities for the firm.

Prior to Morningside, Aan Son worked at Headway Capital Partners in London for over nine years, where he was a senior member of the investment team focusing on private equity secondaries and independent sponsor transactions across Europe and North America. Aan Son began his career in the UK M&A and Financial Institutions teams at the Royal Bank of Scotland advising on a wide range of corporate finance and capital markets transactions.

Aan Son received a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management from the University of Oxford and is a CFA® Charterholder, a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM), and Certified ESG Analyst (CESGA).

Project Bloomingdale: Morningside fully realizes NAV loan investment with strong returns

Morningside Capital is pleased to announce the successful realization of its NAV loan investment in Project Bloomingdale. This transaction, initially closed in June 2021, provided liquidity and follow-on capital to a US middle-market buyout investment firm. Following the recent exit of a portfolio company, Morningside’s investment was fully repaid in October 2024.

Project Bloomingdale is representative of Morningside’s NAV-based financing investment strategy. By providing bespoke financing solutions to high performing private equity sponsors, we are able to deliver compelling risk-adjusted returns to our investors.

Morningside Capital welcomes Georg Grodzki and Felix-Etienne Lebel

Morningside Capital is excited to announce two key additions to our team.

Georg Grodzki joins Morningside as a Senior Advisor. Based in London, Georg enhances our presence in Europe and supports Morningside’s NAV-based financing investment and business development activities. Georg brings a wealth of experience in credit investments, with a career spanning five decades. Most recently, he served as a Private Debt Partner at AltamarCam. Previously, Georg held senior roles as Head of Credit Research at Credit Suisse, RBC, and Legal & General. At Morningside, Georg participates on our Investment Committee for all NAV-based financing investments.

Felix-Etienne Lebel joins as a Director of the Board. Felix has over 15 years of private investment experience, most recently as a Partner at Birch Hill Equity Partners, a leading Canadian middle-market private equity fund. He serves on Morningside’s Investment Committee for all GP-led secondary transactions.

Chris Cunningham joins Morningside Capital

Morningside Capital is pleased to announce that Chris Cunningham has joined Morningside as its Chief Compliance Officer. Chris brings to Morningside 13 years of investment experiences and worked with the principals of Morningside previously at CPP Investments in its private equity secondaries teams. We welcome Chris to the team.

Morningside Capital announces the final close of its second single asset secondary fund

Morningside Capital is delighted to announce the final closing of Morningside Vintage Secondary 2023, LP. Consistent its previous vintage, the fund will focus on investing in “trophy assets” managed by top tier private equity managers by investing through single asset continuation vehicles. Since launching its vintage secondary program, Morningside has led or participated in over a dozen such transactions. We thank our existing limited partners for their continued support and welcome sixteen new partners into our 2023 fund.

Morningside Capital expands team

Dario Nuñez joins as an Analyst on its investment team. Prior to joining Morningside, Dario had work experience in investment banking. He holds a Master’s degree in International Finance from Nova School of Business and Economics.

Stephany Gonzalez Benjumea joins as an Executive Assistant and supports Morningside’s business development activities. She previously worked at CIBC and holds an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration from Brock University.

The expansion of the Morningside team will help increase our capacity to execute secondary and portfolio financing investments and enhance services for our investors.

Morningside completes preferred equity investments in partnership with Springwater Capital

Morningside Capital and LSV Advisors partnered with Springwater Capital by investing in a portfolio of European private equity assets with a value of over €100 million through a preferred equity solution. This transaction will enable Springwater to continue to build out its platform and to take advantage of the current market conditions to provide sophisticated capital solutions to companies with high growth potential whilst also broadening its investor base.

In tandem with closing, the Fund completed its first investment in partnership with a blue-chip global private equity sponsor.
